The Centrality

Saaristo
Province | Varaus | Breadbasket of Metirno
The largest island of the archipelago, Saaristo sits on the southwestern edge of the Centrality. Its eastern shores are primarily made of white cliffs topped with pine trees, while the northwest region is more mountainous and arid as it stretches up towards the island of Qartal. Saaristo is often known as the "breadbasket province" as its extensive fields provide much of the wheat, barley, and other grains. Fairly temperate, Saaristo is also home to Alkujin, the city-seat of the Republic of Metirno which has shipping connections to nearly every other province.
The primary religion of Saaristo is Luminism, which worships the stars-god Hidran and is largely controlled by the Luminarium.
My cultural/linguistic/economic inspirations for Saaristo were Greece and Finland.

Maalisto
Province | Tiekas Vas | Builder's Province
The sister-island to Saaristo, Maalisto shares much of its cultural and geographic traits with the slightly larger province. The main differences are twofold:
(1) Facing east from the Centrality, Maalisto is partially exposed to the seasonal monsoons that come from the southeast. While not hit as directly as The Five Divisions, Maalisto's eastern coast is still far wetter than any part of Saaristo. While deciduous forests take up the southwestern portion of the province, the northern parts are overrun with rocky jungles.
(2) Maalisto's main export is not grain, but knowledge. Its capital of Tiekas Vas hosts the Engineer's Guild and the Alphabine College, both of which serve as important reserves of knowledge and innovation. The culture of the province is slightly more erudite, though the majority of the island is far from educated.
The primary religion of Maalisto is Luminism, although cultural shifts in the 9th century have shifted those in Tiekas Vas more towards a type of naturalism.
My cultural/linguistic/economic inspirations for Maalisto were France and Finland.

The Ralas Isles
Province | Ilopaika | Marigold of the East
Don't have much on this island yet!

Alir
Province | Goshen | Land of the Moon's Favor
The oldest of the desert provinces, Alir was once the central seat of Manizah ul ilm'Qamar, or the Kingdom of the Children of the Moon. This ancient land spanned Alir, Amara, and Qartal before the dissolution of the kingdom and the formation of the archipelago-spanning Republic of Metirno. The island's distinctive red-orange rock, northern dunes, sparse rainfall, and treacherous coasts have made it a hardy land that relies on the production of various oils and precious stones. It is also the origin of many of the technological advancements, invented to tame the environment, such as aqueducts and tidal mills.
The primary religion of Alir is Qamanism, which worships the moon-goddess Qamana but also includes a pantheon represented by the phases of the moon.
My cultural/linguistic/economic inspiration for Alir was Morocco, with Arab and Spanish influences.
